Thielen Named NFC's Special Teams Player Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that Adam Thielen has been named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Thielen blocked a punt, recovered the ball and ran it in for a touchdown in the first quarter of Sunday's 31-13 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. It was one of two blocked punts the Vikings returned for touchdowns.

Thielen is the first Vikings player to win the special teams award this season and sixth since Mike Priefer became the special team's coordinator in 2011. A Detroit Lakes, Minn., native and former Minnesota State University-Mankato player, Thielen also had two special teams tackles in Sunday's win.
