Tips For Decorating Your Holiday Wreath

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Holiday decorations are everywhere. But if you're struggling to get your house holiday ready, we have a few tips on how to give your wreath extra flair, or just start with the basics.

If you're anything like WCCO's Kylie Bearse, you aren't exactly the crafty type. Luckily for her (and you), Laura Wood of The Garden by the Woods was ready to step in to help.

Before you start decorating, you've got to pick your branches. If you want your wreath to last, Wood said you should go with Fraser fir.

"Some of the cedar wreaths and lighter wreaths will dry out before Christmas So you want to make sure you have a high-quality wreath if you're doing it inside.  If you're doing it outside then you can use a little less expensive materials," Wood said.

Grab your wire and whatever flair you want. It can be just about anything.

"I'm a huge fan of ribbon," she said. "I think that can really make your wreath pop."

But if all else fails, Wood said that The Garden by the Woods is holding "Wreath Wednesdays" where you can come in to decorate your wreath with the experts.

"Helping people kind of get through and do it themselves, but kind of have some sort of professional look to it," Wood said.

"Wreath Wednesdays" are free. You just have to pay for the materials you use. They also have plenty of activities for the kids while you decorate.
