Banham Hurts Knee, Out For Rest Of Gophers Season

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota senior point guard Rachel Banham will miss the rest of the season after injuring her right knee.

Coach Marlene Stollings made the announcement Thursday.

Stollings says Banham suffered a torn ACL in her knee Wednesday in the first half of the Gophers' win at North Dakota.

Banham was the Big Ten player of the year pick.

Stollings released a statement on the injury Friday.

"This is a devastating injury for Rachel and a great loss for our team. Rachel has been a joy to coach and has put in the work to elevate her game to yet another level this season. We will support her throughout her rehabilitation process and she will continue to play a critical leadership role on this team as she recovers," Stollings said.
