NW Minn. Team Ends 4-Year Losing Streak

CLIMAX, Minn. (AP) — The coach and players of the Climax-Fisher girls' basketball team are still basking in the glow of an improbable, double-overtime win that ended a four-year losing streak.

Playing in their home gym in the tiny northwestern Minnesota town of Climax, the Knights beat Bagley High School 62-58 Tuesday for their first win in 84 games. They sealed the win in double overtime with just three players on the court — five players on an eight-team bench fouled out throughout the course of the game.

Coach Jonathon Vonesh says the gym erupted when the final buzzer sounded. He gives credit for his first win since taking over the team three years ago to his players' hard work and determination.

Vonesh says there's no way to "X and O something like that."
