DNR Urges Caution On Ice Despite Cool Down
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Despite colder weather, the DNR wants everyone to think twice before going out on the ice right now.
The department says because of the recent weather changes, there are inconsistent ice conditions.
Several ATVs, trucks and fish houses have gone through the ice in recent days.
The DNR says anyone who goes out on the ice should carry a set of ice picks, check with a local bait shop, or resort, about the ice conditions and measure the ice.
It should be at least four inches thick for walking, and five for a snowmobile or ATV.
