Remains Of MN Soldier MIA In Korean War ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota soldier who had been unaccounted for from the Korean War has been identified.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Gordon Hannah of Grand Rapids was listed as "missing in action" after a battle in January of 1951.

He was reportedly held as a prisoner of war, and died from disease, but his remains were not turned over, when the war came to an end. Recently, however, officials identified Sgt. Hannah's remains using DNA technology.

Next week, he'll have an official burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with full military honors.

There are still more than 7,800 Americans who remain unaccounted for from the Korean War.
