Minn. Children's Museum Asks Kids For Design Help

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Kids are getting a unique opportunity to help create and design part of the $28 million renovation of the Minnesota Children's Museum.

The museum opened two prototype exhibits Saturday for children and parents to test out.

One of the exhibits is designed like a workshop. The idea is to let kids explore their creativity and design projects they can take home.

The other exhibit is more abstract, featuring different moveable objects and lights to allow kids to create their own play zone.

Along with the new exhibits, the renovation will feature a four-story climbing structure, a coffee shop, a new skyway entrance and more.

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall. The two prototype exhibits will remain open until May for patrons to test out and provide feedback.
