Man Taunting Packers Fans At Wild Game Goes Viral

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – St. Paul native Ryan Rhody isn't bashful about his love for the Vikings and hate for the Packers. Little did he know getting caught on TV with a sign making fun of Packers fans would get national attention.

Rhody was sitting right behind the bench, near coach Mike Yeo, during the Wild's 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday night at Xcel Energy Center. During the live broadcast of the game, he was seen several times wearing a sign, "Hahahaha Packer fans." He's one of several Vikings fans having fun with Packers fans after they had a late-game collapse to lose to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.

"It was just to be jerk to a few of my Packer buddies on my own Facebook, and I knew I was going to be seen, and I thought it would show up on my Facebook and really nothing more," Rhody said.

But his appearance on live TV went all over the Internet as well as ESPN, SportsCenter and CBS Sportsline. Between text messages, tweets and Facebook, his phone went crazy.

"My phone went off the whole Wild game and it went from 80 percent battery to gone," Rhody said. "I couldn't keep up with the texts and I'd say 20,000 tweets. I just kept laughing."

Rhody became a big Vikings fan in 1998, Randy Moss's rookie season.

Since his sign went viral, he said he's heard from plenty of Packers fans. His motive was to have a little fun with rival fans.

"They're all saying how dumb I am. To me, I guess it's all in fun and if the Packers fans are upset about it I guess I did a good job with my sign," Rhody said.

He says he wants something good to come out of all of this. He's auctioning off the seats to the Feb. 22 Wild game against Dallas, and donating the proceeds to the charity Favre4Hope.
