Eagan Police Investigating Death Of 13-Year-Old Boy
EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) -- Police aren't saying why, but they're calling the death of a 13-year-old boy in Eagan Sunday suspicious. And they're questioning his two young siblings who were home with him.
Police and paramedics found the boy bleeding inside their family's Eagan home on the 1700 block of Silver Bell Circle just after 11 a.m. Sunday. It's very early in the investigation, and that's why police said they won't release the boy's name.
But police said they're starting by talking with the family members who were home when it happened.
"It's tragic anytime there's a young life lost. Tragic," Eagan police officer Desiree Schroepfer said.
Eagan police got to the house on Silver Bell Circle before noon Sunday, and investigators stayed well into the evening looking for clues to what happened inside. Officers said the 13-year-old boy was home with his 15-year-old brother and 11-year-old sister.
They said the older brother called police and said his little brother was bleeding and from a wound and couldn't talk or move. When paramedics got there, they said it was too late. The 13-year-old boy was pronounced dead.
"Our heart goes out to the family of the individual," Schroepfer said.
Officer Schroepfer said while the family begins to grieve, they'll also be questioned in what's being called a suspicious death. Police said no one is in custody at this time, although they're questioning the family.
Investigators are working to figure out exactly what led to the wound that they say may have caused the boy's death. Police said they'll likely release more information about what happened on Monday.
