Burnsville Police Seek Help IDing Man In Possible Child Abduction

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Burnsville are asking the public's help in identifying an individual following a possible child abduction attempt witnessed on Tuesday.

The Burnsville Police Department says that it got a report that morning about suspicious activity on the 2000 block of East 117th Street.

The report said that around 8 a.m. a 6-year-old girl was at her school's bus stop when an unknown man in a car approached her.

A witnesses told police that the man was white, middle-aged, balding, had a "beer belly," and was wearing gray sweatshirt. He drove a silver compact car with white letters on the passenger's side.

What those letters spelled out is not known.

The witness watched the man stand by his open car door, as if he was inviting the girl into his car.

The man only got back into his car and drove off once he realized someone was watching him.
