Dayton Signs $17M Flood, Disaster Relief Bill
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton has signed a bill to help rebuild Minnesota roads and restore lands hit by flooding last June.
Dayton signed the bill Tuesday.
The bill provides $17.3 million in state aid, including $11.8 million for flood and disaster relief. The package includes $3 million that local governments can use as a partial match for federal emergency funds to repair flood-damaged roads.
The bill also sets aside $2.4 million for the Board of Water and Soil Resources to repair damage to conservation areas.
President Barack Obama declared 37 Minnesota counties and three tribal governments a major disaster last year after the floods. Three counties were not included in the declaration but did qualify for help from a new state public assistance program.
Both the Minnesota House and Senate unanimously passed the flood relief bill.
