MNsure Extends Contact Center Hours As Open Enrollment Deadline Nears

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As the Feb. 15 deadline for MNsure's open enrollment approaches, the health insurance exchange is offering extended contact center hours for those with last-minute questions.

MNsure staff will be available until 10 p.m. weeknights and midnights on weekend beginning Feb. 9.

"I am extremely pleased that our contact center employees have been able to keep average call wait times below 60 seconds for the past several weeks," MNsure CEO Scott Leitz said. "By now, I think we all know that call volumes increase as deadlines get closer, and with that comes increased wait times. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, and Minnesotans calling us during these final days of open enrollment should expect to wait longer than a couple seconds to reach an agent."

Open enrollment for 2015 coverage began on Nov. 15, 2014. Minnesotans eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare can enroll year round.

As of May 2014, 95 percent of Minnesotans have health coverage – the highest percentage in Minnesota history, according to MNsure.
