13 Arrested In Student Sit-In At UMinn.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A call for more diversity at the University of Minnesota resulted in 13 demonstrators being arrested.

Around 60 students gathered outside Morrill Hall Monday. They were trying to stage a sit-in inside President Eric Kaler's office.

Among some of the group's demands: Gender neutral restrooms in every building and an end to "racialized" crime alerts.

The University says it supports the right of peaceful protests on campus.

Kaler and other school officials held an open forum last Thursday for students to express their concerns and offer up more ideas. Around 400 people showed up.
