Coyle Looking To Be A Consistent, Physical Force For The Wild

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Wild had their very physical players leading the way in Monday night's victory over the Canucks.

In that department was the ever-improving Charlie Coyle.

Currently, the forward is at a good place in his game.

"It's just playing your game and doing what you do well," Coyle said. "When you feel that out there, you get more confidence each shift and you bring it to the next one."

But do you need to find your name in the scoring column to gain that sense of self?

No, but it helps.

"For me, it's about playing my game, getting physical," Coyle said.

What the Wild needs him to be is a grinder – someone who's tough in front of the net, able to move bodies and not be moved.

"I think he's gotten back to that in the last little while," said Wild star left winger Zach Parise. "You see he's scoring, he's getting scoring chances because of it."

Coyle is doing it this season with a contract that set him up for life. Some thought he may have put too much pressure on himself to prove his worth.

Not really, he says.

"I don't even think about it, I just keep playing" Coyle said. "I think the worst thing you can do is think about that stuff…I know how I need to play. I just need to bring that consistently every night."
