Twin Cities Day Care Catches Thief On Camera

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A Twin Cities day care fed up with repeated break-ins, set up a camera and caught the thief in the act.

He stole three TVs Monday night at Rise and Shine Early Learning Center in Minneapolis.

The day care owners hope their surveillance video leads to his arrest and gives them some peace of mind.

Yosha Scott, the co-owner of the Rise and Shine Early Learning Center, said after all the kids left Monday evening, someone broke into the center.

"[There] was a big hole where he ripped the whole mounting out of the wall," Scott said.

She thinks he got in through a basement window, went on to take a small TV, which she's already replaced, and then went upstairs to take two more.

It's happened twice before -- two TVs were taken each time.

"It's expensive to have to keep replacing the televisions," she said.

Those break-ins forced Scott to invest in a surveillance system. And this time, it caught the thief in the act.

"He walks into our preschool classroom, straight toward the television," she said. "He's ripping it off the wall, he checks it, then he turns around takes the DVD player."

Scott is hoping someone will get a good look at the thief and recognize who he is.

"We were sure that it was someone who had been here before," she said. "He was very familiar to where he was walking."

She has a message for whoever is behind the break-in.

"We don't want you back in our facility, and you need to stop coming in and violating what we have for our children," she said.

Scott also said that it appeared from an outside camera that another person was acting as a lookout.

If you have any information about who this man is, call Minneapolis police.
