Timberwolves Represented Well In All-Star Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves don't have anyone playing in this year's NBA All-Star Game at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but there are still plenty of reasons for fans to be interested.

The Timberwolves will have four players participating in Friday night's Rising Stars Challenge. It's a game featuring the USA against the World with both rookies and second-year players from around the league. Timberwolves on the USA team include rookie Zach LaVine and second-year Shabazz Muhammad. The World team has rookie Andrew Wiggins and second-year player Gorgui Dieng.

Saturday night, LaVine will take center stage in the NBA Dunk Contest. Some have called him the favorite to win it.

He said it's something he's wanted to do his entire life.

"It's going to be a lot of fun. It's been a dream of mine, especially in my rookie year. So I want to go out there and put on a show for the crowd," LaVine said. "I want to get 50s across the board and have everybody asking 'What did he just do?' I can't really say much about it. You'll find out."
