Dustin Diamond, 'Screech,' Pleads Not Guilty To Stabbing Charges

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The actor who played Samuel "Screech" Powers on the early 90s show "Saved by the Bell" pleaded not guilty to stabbing a man.

Dustin Diamond appeared in court Thursday in Wisconsin.

Prosecutors said the former actor stabbed a man during a bar fight on Christmas.

Diamond said it was an accident, and happened as he was trying to defend his fiancée from two men he said were taking pictures of them.

The judge decided that the jury trial will be held in May.
