Authorities Investigate Crow Wing Co. Child Choking Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a child began choking on a county road Friday and later died.

On Feb. 2 at 12:35 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a child choking on County Road 123 in Crow Wing Township. Upon arrival, deputies initiated CPR with the help of the caller.

The child was taken to an area hospital and later flown to Minneapolis Children's Hospital, where the child later died.

No foul play is suspected, but the case remains under investigation. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Details of what led up to the incident have not been released.
