Teen Charged In Murder Of Man At Minneapolis Bus Stop

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a man who had just stepped off a city bus in northeast Minneapolis last September.

Montrell Maurice Webster was arrested after a traffic stop, where officers found a gun in his possession.

Minneapolis Police say tests on the gun cartridges have led them to believe that it was the same weapon used in the killing of 36-year-old Eulalio Gonzalez-Sanchez in the early morning of Sept. 21, 2014.

The victim has just exited a Metro Transit bus near 22nd Avenue Northeast and 7th Street Northeast when he was shot dead during the apparent robbery of his cell phone.

Jeremiah Elijah Blackwell, 20, was charged with second-degree murder in this case after a similar traffic stop last December led to the discovery of a gun that matched casings found at the crime scene.

Investigators also said pings from Blackwell's cell phone placed him near the crime scene, and he was accused of a robbing someone of their cell phone about a week after Gonzalez-Sanchez's death in the same area. Blackwell has not confessed to the crime.

Webster was charged with first-degree murder with intent while committing a felony. He is currently being held at the Hennepin County Jail on a $2 million bail.
