Prayer Vigil Held For Missing Crystal Boy

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities community isn't giving up hope that a missing 10-year-old boy will return home safely.

A vigil took place Monday afternoon for Barway Collins outside the Cedarwood Apartment complex where he disappeared Wednesday. Several dozen people showed their support for his family by handing out fliers and joining together in prayer at the gathering.

"Little Barway is an innocent child, a future of leader of the liberian Minnesota community. Whoever has him, we ask you to please release him. He is innocent child," said Rev. Alexander Collins of the Liberian Ministers Association.

Police say surveillance video shows the boy walking towards his building but then turning around and leaving. He hasn't been seen since.

Over the weekend, police released a photo that shows a man and a woman in the entryway to Collins' apartment building. Investigators want to know if those two know anything about his disappearance.

Up until Sunday, Crystal police said they believed he was with family or someone he knew.

On Monday, police said that the public did come forward to help them identify the people in the surveillance pictures. But they wouldn't say whether they've talked to the two people and didn't give any more details into this investigation.

Officials also said they didn't issue an Amber Alert because it didn't meet the criteria. There wasn't a suspect or vehicle description, and there wasn't enough information to show that his disappearance happened under suspicious circumstances. In the surveillance video, police said it didn't look like he was coerced or taken from the parking lot.
