Babbitt Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Mom's Boyfriend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Babbitt man pleaded guilty Wednesday to strangling his mother's boyfriend to death.

Shawn Russel Doherty, 26, was charged with intentional second-degree murder, and was sentenced to 27 years in prison in a plea deal with the St. Louis County Attorney's office.

Doherty admitted to killing 55-year-old Paul Bulen, of Mahtomedi, at his mother's home on Jan. 13, 2014.

He will be officially sentence on May 7.
