MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Every Walmart employee in Minnesota is now earning at least $9 an hour.

The pay raises for more than 7,700 Minnesotans employed by the retail giant went into effect last Saturday.

The new full-time average hourly wage at Walmart stores in Minnesota is now $12.90.

Last month, Target said their minimum wage was also going up to at least $9 an hour in April.

Minnesota state law requires the minimum wage for large employers to be at least $9 an hour by Aug. 1.
