Wild Fans Flock To St. Paul, Hopeful For Playoffs
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Fans turned out in droves for the Wild's shutout win at the Xcel Energy Center Monday night.
It felt like weather outside, so Minnesota Wild fans had no problems heading inside to pubs hours before the puck dropped, where they could catch all the playoff action.
In a sea of Wild jerseys at Tom Reed's Pub in St. Paul, Blues fan Martin Parody sat happily watching the game. He drove all the way from Alberta, Canada to watch the game in Minnesota.
"I was a little surprised when I first walked in, everyone pretty much stopped and stared at us," he said.
That was to be expected, because at the Wild Hockey Lodge, sales are double what they typically are for regular season games.
Season ticket holders Eric and Sheila Olson had the offense and defense covered, with Neidereitter and Dubnyk jerseys.
"There's nothing like it. It's just so exciting," Sheila said. "Everybody's just screaming and hollering. It's such a great time."
The Wild also welcomed the Walesch family after seeing a WCCO story about sons Brett and Luke. Both boys are battling a rare kidney disease.
For game 4 on Wednesday, the Blues will have to take on the Wild on home turf once again, at the Xcel Energy Center.
