Excellent Educator: Joan Demeter Of Dowling Urban Environmental Learning Ctr.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- WCCO paid a visit to one teacher just in the nick of time. After 35 years of teaching at Dowling Urban Environmental Learning Center in Minneapolis, Mrs. Joan Demeter is retiring next year.

Demeter not only teaches kids, but has dedicated part of her career to helping student teachers. That's what makes her this week's Excellent Educator.

Not only is Demeter a Kindergarten teacher, she is making sure that the next generation of teachers is ready for the challenge by hosting student teachers from Augsburg college.

Demeter says teaching has been a rewarding profession and wants to pass it on to others.
