Woman Refuses Attempted Carjacking At St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- A carjacking at St. Cloud State University was denied Friday evening when the victim refused to comply with the perpetrator's demands.

Police say the 18-year-old girl was sitting in her car in a parking lot near the 400 block of 3rd Avenue South on campus when the criminal approached.

The victim says a man wearing a gray "spandex-type" mask approached her vehicle and demanded she get out, holding what appeared to be a black handgun. When she rebuffed his demands, the suspect fled the scene on foot heading south.

Police say she wasn't injured in the incident, and never got out of her car.

According to a report, the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored sweat pants and tennis shoes. Anyone with information should contact the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200, or anonymously report a tip to the Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 320-255-1301.
