Mpls. Police Union President Delmonico Loses Re-Election Bid
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The face of the Minneapolis Police union for 16 years has lost his bid for re-election.
Lt. John Delmonico ran mostly unchallenged since taking the job in 1999.
Lt. Bob Kroll, the long-time union vice president, will take the top spot.
Kroll told WCCO Thursday night he wants to continue the good work he and Delmonico have done together, and that there will be no division in the department over his win.
Delmonico says he is looking forward to the new chapter in his police career in Minneapolis.
The union represents Minneapolis's 850 police and park police officers.
