After A Day Of Studying, Wild Are Ready To Take The Ice

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After losing 4-3 and 4-1 in Chicago against the Blackhawks, the Wild are back in St. Paul Tuesday.

And a home ice advantage couldn't be more important for Mike Yeo's team.

This is the fourth time in five years the Wild have been down in a playoff series  2-0. As for the Blackhawks, since 2010 the Chicago team has been great finishers. They've won two Stanley Cups in the last five years.

Head coach Mike Yeo's team dimmed the lights Monday and spent the day studying up. The team watched game film Monday, hoping to learn from their mistakes the last two games.

There was a power outage overnight in St. Paul, which meant that the compressors for the ice were out for a short time. There had been some concern about the ice conditions Tuesday morning, but Wild officials said the power was out only briefly at Xcel Energy Center and restored quickly.

Wild players said the ice was in good condition for their morning skate.

"Ice was fantastic," Zach Parise said.

A playoff party has been planned once again in St. Paul Tuesday, and there are plenty of ways to join.

The pre-game playoff celebration starts at 4:30 p.m. outside Gate 2. There will be a DJ, new foods and flavors and, of course, the ice will be nice and cold.
