New Saints Ballpark To Use Recycled Rainwater

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- With the recent drought in some parts of Minnesota, the new Saints ballpark will be doing its part to save water this summer.

Thanks in part to funding by the Capitol Region Watershed District, CHS Field will use recycled rainwater to keep the field green and flush 10 percent of toilets in the new stadium.

A new system of rain gardens and filtration structures in St. Paul captures runoff water from a nearby light rail facility and funnels it to the nearby field, according to a press release.

The system can collect up to 21,000 gallons of rainwater, and is one of the first of its kind in Minnesota.
