Woman On Trial For Identity Theft Accused Of Stealing Jewelry From Juror

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Ramsey County juror showed up for court, but ended up leaving without her wedding band and a watch worth almost $5,000.

And police say the person who took her jewelry was the defendant.

Travette Campbell has a lengthy criminal history, including at least five prior felony convictions. A current criminal complaint alleges identity theft.

Surveillance video shows the juror go through security, sending her purse and jewelry through a metal detector, but she forgets to pick up her ring and watch.

The footage shows Campbell reach into the bin that had just been used.

Officers identified Campbell from the video and later recovered the stolen items at her house.

She admitted to taking the nearly $20,000 in jewelry, but said she thought it was costume jewelry.
