Real Estate Wednesday: Short & Sweet Version Of 'Artisan Home Tour'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On this real estate Wednesday, WCCO This Morning's Ali Lucia showcases a shorter version of the Artisan Home Tour, which is in its second year.

We start off on a beautiful Lake Minnetonka property in Wayzata. The six bedrooms, seven baths house is nearly 9-thousand square feet. Everything about this house is grand, including the rotunda entrance with domed ceilings in this new construction just off Highway 101.

"You see this series of arches and you see the radiuses that carry throughout the house," said Swanson Homes interior designer Sandy Mahoney.

The walkout basement is a child's dream: from the squash court, to exercise room and even entertainment pad built for bachelor or family who loves to entertain.

"We staked out the views on the house I think three times," said the builder, Curt Swanson, of Swanson Homes. "The family wanted to make sure they could see the lake from their master bedroom and great room."

Now, we step away from the lake to dry off in this "treehouse"-style home tucked away in Edina.

The co-founders of Robert Dana, married couple Emily and Jeremy Rupp, said the challenge was keeping a midcentury modern feel in such a steep lot.

"I think what makes it so unique is it's sleek and sophisticated -- the modern lines that you get. You can tell walking up to the house we have a very steep lot,' Emily Rupp said.

With the lush landscape surrounding the home, it features a porch on every level, including a double-sided indoor-outdoor fireplace overlooking the quiet wooded lot. The four bedrooms, four baths, four-level home is right around 2,800 square feet and is built for welcoming guests.

"It (the split levels) created a nice division of all the spaces. We've all pretended we've entertained in here already," Jeremy Rupp said.
