Patrol: Motorcyclist Dies After Broadsiding Pickup

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The State Patrol said a motorcyclist died Sunday morning in southeastern Minnesota after trying to pass a pickup truck and slamming into it.

The collision happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 61 and Grant Boulevard just north of Wabasha.

The motorcyclist was traveling south on Highway 61 and tried to pass a pickup making a turn onto Grant Boulevard, the State Patrol said.

The motorcycle broadsided the pickup, and its driver died. The name of the motorcyclist has yet to be released.

The driver of the pickup, 66-year-old Jerald Topp of Northfield, suffered no injuries.
