I-94 Speed Limit Increase In East Metro Goes In Effect

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The speed limit increase from 65 to 70 mph on a stretch of I-94 in the east metro will go into effect Wednesday.

MnDOT will make the changes to signs Wednesday on the road between Woodbury and the Wisconsin border.

Officials said they did a study and found the change will not make the area any less safe.

Wisconsin is also increasing the speed limit on its side this week.

According to a recent survey, slow driving in the left lane is the number three cause of road rage.

Tailgating is number two and texting is number one.

At least 38 states, including Minnesota and Wisconsin, have laws in place to fine drivers for lingering in the left lane.
