Accomplish With Kylie & Jeff Locke
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota Vikings player is using his athleticism to help raise money for Veterans, but it's not football.
Viking's Punter Jeff Locke is playing the "Longest Day of Golf" Friday to help raise money for Tee It Up For the Troops.
It's a cause Locke knows personally, having grown up with a dad in the Air Force.
"I was born oversees and was in that military lifestyle most of my life," said Locke. "It's tough for some kids to be away from mom or dad when they're oversees. And even for the kids to be relocating every year or two. It's good to kind of get in touch with them and tell them it'll be alright."
For Locke, a charity golf tournament is the perfect way to combine his passions beyond football field.
"It's definitely a win-win all around," said Locke. "To be able to play golf and raise money at the same time. I like interacting with the veterans at the event because the guys are so cool. Most of them are better at me in golf. They almost like seeing me hit bad shots."
Locke is playing sunrise to sunset Friday to meet his fundraising goal of $5,000. To reach that goal he's giving away Vikings tickets.
For every $20 you donate, you have a chance to win tickets to a Vikings game this season.
Locke says the Vikings have also included two VIP pre-game field passes and two lower level game tickets for the Vikings vs. Chiefs game on October 18th, 2015 to whoever donates the most amount of money to his personal page.
