Minneapolis Police Bust 2 Marijuana Operations, Suspect In Custody

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A recent search warrant executed by the Minneapolis Police Department took apart two large marijuana operations in the city and ended with a dangerous suspect in custody, authorities said.

Minneapolis Police executed the search warrant on June 18 as part of a short-term narcotics investigation. The busts were at two homes in north Minneapolis, 3423 Freemont Avenue North and 3414 Penn Avenue North.  Police recovered about 51 pounds of marijuana, 118 plants and more than $17,000 in cash. The search warrant was issued in connection with a suspect linked to several violent crimes.

Police identified that suspect, who was arrested and charged in connection with the case, as Quincy Jeffrey Martin. He has been charged with fifth-degree sale of marijuana mixture and fifth-degree possession of a not small amount of marijuana.

When officers arrived to execute the search warrant, Martin fled the scene on foot but was taken into custody after a short chase.

The case remains under investigation.
