Wild's Dubnyk Wins NHL's Masterton Trophy
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk was named the winner of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy at the 2015 NHL Awards Wednesday night in Las Vegas.
The winner of the Masterton Trophy is voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writer's Association. It goes annually to the player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Dubnyk became the second Wild player in team history to win the award. Josh Harding won it in 2013.
Dubnyk, 29, went 27-9-2 for the Wild in net last season after being acquired in a trade with Arizona on Jan. 14. He finished with a 1.78 goals against average, a .936 save percentage and posted five shutouts for the Wild in leading the franchise to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He also set a Wild franchise record with 38 consecutive starts. In 19 road starts, Dubnyk was 15-2-1 with a 1.53 goals against average and a .949 save percentage with three shutouts.
The Wild is currently in contract negotiations with Dubnyk, who became a free agent this week.
