Saints' DiFazio Named American Association Player Of The Month

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The St. Paul Saints are off to a hot start, and catcher Vinny DiFazio has a lot to do with it.

DiFazio was named the American Association Player of the Month for June on Thursday. He hit .393 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 22 games for the month. In 89 at bats, he scored 20 runs, hit four doubles, had one triple and an on base percentage of .449. He also had a .697 slugging percentage.

DiFazio had a 12-game hitting streak at one point in June and in the final 11 games of that streak he had multi-hit games. In that stretch, he hit 28-for-50. He also had an RBI in nine straight games, a new career-high.

He hit home runs in consecutive games twice in June. For the season, he's hitting .405 with eight home runs and 34 RBI in 28 games. He's the only player in the American Association hitting over .400.

With DiFazio catching, the Saints pitching staff also has the best ERA in the American Association.

The St. Paul Saints are 30-8 on the season and have a 12.5 game lead in the North Division of the league.
