Lawyer Reveals More Names Of Priests Accused Of Abuse

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The effort to reach more victims of sexual abuse by members of the Catholic church is stepping up.

Lawyer Jeff Anderson revealed Tuesday more names of clergy who he says have been credibly accused of sexual abuse.

One of them is Michael Charland, a former priest.

Joe McLean says Charland sexually abused him in 1981.

He brought his claims to the archdiocese 12 years ago and says he was dismissed.

Now McLean says he's concerned because Charland is still working with children in the Twin Cities.

"You feel alone as somebody who's gone through something like this," McLean said. "You feel as though nobody believes you, and when I approached the church...and for them to have fallen short on this, it's taken a toll."

A federal judge has set Aug. 3 as a deadline for anyone seeking claims to come forward.
