Grand Forks Officials Set To Discuss Railroad Crossing Study
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks officials are holding a public meeting to discuss possible railroad crossing adjustments if the North Dakota State Mill adjusts its rail service.
The mill is looking at moving their service from tracks south of U.S. Highway 2, or Gateway Drive, to tracks along North 42nd Street. The proposed change is part of a $27 million expansion project at the mill, which has been shipping record amounts of flour in recent years
Officials are looking for ways to ease congestion that would result along 42nd Street. There's also a proposal for a new railroad crossing on North Washington Street. The tracks along Highway 2 would likely be abandoned.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Thursday at Grand Forks City Hall.
