Lynx Acquire G Renee Montgomery In Trade

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Lynx announced Monday they traded injured guard Monica Wright to the Seattle Storm for guard Renee Montgomery and a 2016 second round draft pick.

Montgomery was originally drafted by the Lynx in 2009 with the No. 4 overall pick. She was traded to the Connecticut Sun in 2010 in the deal that brought Hutchinson native and former Gophers star Lindsay Whalen back to Minnesota.

Montgomery comes back to the Lynx with a career average of 10.6 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game. Over 17 games this season, she has averaged 7.1 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game. In her rookie season with the Lynx, she averaged nine points and 2.1 assists per game before being traded.

Wright was sidelined indefinitely last week after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
