Severe Storms Hit Twin Cities Early Friday Morning
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you're heading to work or getting up early Friday morning, you'll want to keep an eye on the sky as you start your day.
Much of central, eastern and southeastern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area, is under at least a slight risk for severe weather. That comes ahead of a hot and muggy weekend across the state.
Storms developed in northwestern Minnesota late Thursday night and tracked towards the Twin Cities metro before most of us were up in the morning. The greatest threat in the Twin Cities and east metro will likely come between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., with the storms moving out by the late morning hours.
There's a chance that storms will redevelop Friday afternoon, with the greatest threat coming east of Interstate 35, western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota.
Saturday will be warm and humid, but dry, and there's a chance for more scattered and isolated storms Sunday.
