Website Selling Gruesome Cecil The Lion Halloween Costume

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota dentist who prompted international outrage after admitting to shooting and killing Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe this summer is now the butt of a gruesome Halloween costume.

The website costumeish.com is selling an item called "Lion Killer Dentist," a reference to Minnesota dentist and trophy hunter Dr. Walter Palmer.

The costume comes with a severed lion's head, blood-splattered smock and gloves, and dentist tools.

The California costume-maker says the product is so popular that its price was raised to $99, with 15 percent of the proceeds going to a "wildlife foundation."

In early July, Palmer shot and killed the popular lion after his guides allegedly lured it out of the protection of a national park.

The guide is facing charges in Zimbabwe, as is the man who owns the land where Cecil was killed.

Walter, who has kept private since the story broke to international online rage, has yet to be charged with a crime. While his Bloomington practice has reopened, he has yet to return to the office.
