Fund Set Up For Boy Beaten, Killed By Mother's Boyfriend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fund has been set up for a child who police say was beaten and killed by his mother's boyfriend.

Dante Sears was supposed to celebrate his third birthday last week. Instead, his family had to make the painful decision to end his medical care. Pine County Sheriff's Office says the child had been in the care of his mother's boyfriend when they got the 911 call Tuesday morning.

Jonathan Loun, 31, fled the scene shortly after Sears was discovered unresponsive by his mother. Loun was later tracked down and is facing murder charges.

Sears' funeral is this Friday at the Evangelic Free Church in Sandstone, and a fund has been set up to benefit the medical and burial expenses.
