St. Paul Fire Honor Guard Raises Money For Memorials
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The St. Paul Fire Honor Guard is collecting donations for memorial markers to honor fallen firefighters, like Shane Clifton.
The 38-year-old collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest at the Merriam Park firehouse Monday night.
According to a statement from the St. Paul Fire Department, Clifton told colleagues at Station No. 14 on Snelling Avenue that he felt sick just after 5 p.m., then suddenly collapsed.
He was quickly treated by his fellow firefighters and EMTs at the scene, and first responders soon transferred Clifton to Regions hospital where he was treated for several hours before he died.
