San Felipe Tacos Wins Best Food In MN State Fair's '2015 Best Awards'
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In a state fair defined by amazing food, beverages, entertainment and services, it's tough to stand out.
But on Thursday, the Minnesota State Fair presented awards to the best-of-the-best of the fair's 1,100 commercial exhibits, attractions and food vendors.
The Great Minnesota Get-Together's 2015 Best Awards were presented by State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer at the International Bazaar Stage.
And without further ado, here are 2015's winners:
Best Product or Service: JM Cremp's The Boys Adventure Store
JM Cremps is where state fairgoers can find boy-focused toys, hunting gear, clothing & more. It's located in the Grandstand on the east section of the upper level.
Best Food or Beverage: San Felipe Tacos
Come on out and grab an award-winning taco from San Felipe Tacos, located in the Food Building on the east wall. The fish tacos are apparently quite tasty.
Best Attraction: Bonanza Shooting Gallery
See how much of a marksman you are at the Bonanza Shooting Gallery, located on the east side of Cooper Street between Lee & Randall avenues at The North Woods.
Best Value: Midway Men's Club
The best value for some great eats! Cheeseburgers and beer -- what more do you need? It's located on the east side of Underwood Street between Wright and Dan Patch avenues, next to the Visitors Plaza.
Best Customer Service: Corn Roast
Ah… the staple of the state fair. Not a real surprise here that the Corn Roast made the list. It's been around for 30 years! Follow the smell of roasted corn to the southeast corner of Dan Patch Avenue and Nelson Street.
Best Midway Ride: Rock It
If you can stomach it (and don't have too much fair food in said stomach), you can test your courage by trying the Rock It ride at the Midway. It spins, it goes upside down, it does everything your body can't normally do.
Best Midway Game: Drag-A-Fish
It's a simple, yet satisfying Midway game! It's pretty self-explanatory, but you use a fishing rod to drag fish, and win prizes!
Best Kidway Ride: Monkey Maze
And lastly, the Monkey Maze won the best Kidway ride. It's a labyrinth of mirrors, lights and other perception teasers! Don't get lost!
The winners were nominated by State Fair superintendents and other State Fair organizers. A committee then reviewed the nominees and selected the winners in the eight categories.
