Man, 24, Hits House With Car, Arrested On Drunk Driving Charges

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 24-year-old Zimmerman man was arrested Thursday after driving a car into a home in Princeton, police said.

According to the Princeton Police Department, at 8:56 p.m. Mille Lacs County Dispatch received a call of a car striking a house in the 900 block of 1st Street North.

Upon arrival, police found two homes had been hit by the car. Officers then began evacuating people from the two homes.

During the evacuation, a fire started near the car.

The Princeton Fire Department was called and crews were able to put out the fire.

According to the police, officers set up a perimeters and evacuated all the homes inside of the residences due to a detected gas leak from a nearby home.

Roughly one hour later, residents were let back into their homes.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving. Formal charges are pending.
