'Goldzilla' Event Helps Retriever Pups In Need

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's one of the biggest Golden Retriever events in America. Sunday was the Goldzilla Fun Fair and Walk For Rescue.

The event at Long Lake Park in New Brighton is put on every year by the nonprofit RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota). Money raised supports the rescuing and re-homing of golden retrievers and golden mixes of all ages. Activities included shopping, a silent auction and walk where participants could collect pledges to earn prizes.

"Over the 30 years, we've helped rescue over 8,000 dogs -- golden retrievers and golden retriever mixes," volunteer Stephanie Perry said. "So we take in animals that have all kinds of different health needs. It doesn't matter how expensive their healthcare is. RAGOM will support them."

Goldzilla is the organizations largest fundraiser of the year. If you'd like to adopt one of the dogs currently in a foster home, click here.
