Sheriff: Springfield Man Pinned & Killed By Semi-Tractor Trailer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 55-year-old Springfield, Minnesota man is dead after a semi-tractor trailer accident Sunday morning, according to the Watonwan County Sheriff's Office.

At 11:57 a.m., Watonwan County dispatch received a 911 call stating that a dead man was pinned between a semi-trailer and the loading dock at Butterfield Foods, located at 225 Hubbard Avenue in Butterfield.

The victim was later identified as David James Baumann. It's believed he was retrieving paperwork from the back of the trailer when it rolled back, pinning him to the loading dock.

Neither the tractor or trailer brakes were set to the on position, the sheriff's office said.

The semi is owned by T&K Trransport Incorporated, which is based in Butterfield.
