Report: Target To Add 1,000 New IT Employees

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After a year filled with layoffs, Target says it's now planning to hire 1,000 new employees.

The Wall Street Journal reports the company plans to hire 500 IT workers here in Minneapolis. Another 500 will be hired overseas, in India.

The move comes just one month after the retailer laid off 275 IT workers.

Target officials explain they needed to restructure the department.

They've now decided to stop outsourcing IT jobs to third-party companies, which created more positions inside Target.
