4 Things To Know: Less Holiday Spending Expected, Ladybug Invasion & More

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- From spending expected to be tighter this holiday season to the apparent ladybug invasion in the Twin Cities, here are the four stories to know for Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Less Holiday Spending?

The holidays may not be wonderful for retailers. A new study by Bankrate.com shows three in five Americans are tightening their purse strings.

Stores may have to offer steep discounts to get customers in to spend.

Nearly a third of Americans say they are cutting back because they haven't gotten a raise.

Democratic Debate Tuesday Night

Democratic Presidential candidates take the stage in Las Vegas Tuesday night for their first ever primary debate.

At the center: the current frontrunner Hillary Clinton with top rival Bernie Sanders to her right.

Vice President Joe Biden, who is still considering a White House bid, is not expected to attend. But there will be a 6th podium ready just in case.

Dell's Big Tech Deal

Dell is set to buy a rival company in what will be the biggest tech deal of all time.

Dell says it will buy corporate software, storage, and security giant EMC for $67 billion.

The deal completes Dell's transition from a consumer PC business to an IT solutions provider for companies.

Both EMC and Dell have struggled recently due to the rise of other cloud companies like Amazon, which can store company data at a cheaper rate.

What's With All The Ladybugs?

Over the weekend, swarms of thousands of Asian lady beetles descended upon the Twin Cities.

Pest experts tell us much like humans, the bugs were basically enjoying the warm weather.
They take in the last little bit of warmth before winter hits.

Don't panic if you have them in your house. They may smell, but Asian lady beetles won't damage your home.
