2 Bloomington College Students Reported Missing Found Safe

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two college students who disappeared Saturday night, are now safe. Matthew LePage, 22, and Jennifer Winfree, 20, were last seen leaving a bonfire in Savage on Saturday night.

They both attend Bethany Global University in Bloomington, where they're studying to become missionaries. There are only about 100 students on the campus.

They arrived together at the party in Jennifer's car, and then later left together. Fellow students said Matthew and Jennifer weren't acting out of the ordinary, but no one heard from them for more than three days.

They reached out to friends and family this evening after they saw their faces on the news. Christine Thomford said she talked to Jennifer as she was on her way back to campus.

"I didn't talk to her a whole lot," Thomford said, "just that she'd be back, and we are excited to see their faces."

LePage's roommate, Chris Mohn, said his faith brought him comfort during the search.

"We're just happy that the Lord answered our prayers, and they finally reached out, and that they're okay and alive," he said.

Matthew's aunt and uncle raised him since he was 1 year old. Shawn Rung said it was very out of the ordinary for Matthew not to text or call, and they are very relieved he and Jennifer are okay tonight.

"The last we heard from him was Saturday night," Rung said. "After that, no text or phone call or anything."

Where the students went and what they were doing, are still questions that family and friends have.
